Zoocha: The Impact of Putting People First

In our eyes, when the people we work with, either within our team or externally, feel that they are valued and can trust Zoocha 100%, then quality and success will come naturally.

That’s why being shortlisted as a finalist for Employer of the Year at the 2024 edition of the UK Dev Awards is a proud testament to our commitment to our team, which we have been dedicated to since Zoocha was established.

Who are Zoocha?

Founded in 2009, Zoocha prides itself on being a leading Drupal development agency based in the UK. After an initial few years growing the business and broadening our client base, we expanded our offices to Spain and Brazil.

Today, our multidisciplinary team includes over 80 individuals spanning UX, design, Drupal development, hosting, project management and support.

As a Great Place to Work certified organisation, our core values of People, Quality, Trust, Value, and Success, are central to how we work and how we collaborate with our clients.

Zoocha have had long-term partnerships with clients such as the Financial Conduct Authority since 2015, Ofsted since 2016, and the British Tourist Authority since 2014. More recently, we have collaborated with the likes of the NHS and the United Nations, who we have continued to work with on multiple projects.

The time and effort that our team puts into each and every project has led us to gaining more Acquia certified Drupal developers than any other UK based Drupal agency, including 25 Drupal Triple Acquia certifications across our team.

Furthermore, our dedication to contributing to the Drupal community has presented us with the Drupal Gold Partner status, a highly esteemed position awarded by the Drupal Association themselves.

Will Huggins, CEO and co-founder of Zoocha, voiced their thoughts on being shortlisted for this award, stating:

Our Team

Of the wide range of individuals within our team, many started out as graduates.

This commitment to hiring talented graduates and training for skills in-house has resulted in an exceptionally low staff turnover rate that we are extremely proud of. An example of this is our Delivery Director who joined Zoocha as a graduate project manager in 2014 and is now part of our team of directors.

Another individual who joined Zoocha as a graduate is our Service Desk Front End Team Lead, Rafaella. Speaking on their experience, they shared:

“My first real job after finishing University was at Zoocha. They believed in me when I was just starting to learn programming without any previous experience. Originally, I worked on support, where I worked my way up from solving small issues to bigger issues, before moving to the development team and becoming the main expert for analytics at Zoocha today. Recently, I started a new position as a lead in the support team, where I’m facing new challenges. I couldn’t be more thankful for all the support from the team, who gave me the tools and the opportunities that I needed to grow. To win the Employer of the Year in the UK Dev Awards would be an incredible achievement, as Zoocha have a passion for helping the team and letting everyone grow together.”

Having been part of the Zoocha 2015, one of our Senior Back End developers, Santi, has shared their perspective:

“I know very few companies that really care about their employees’ quality of life. Zoocha does – they helped me to grow not only as a professional but also as a person. I’m so grateful to surround myself with people with such amazing values everyday.”

In addition to ensuring the team are valued and supported during office hours, we host monthly team building socials allowing the team to bond, which particularly benefits remote workers as they are able to socialise with a more varied mix of team members than they would encounter on a day to day basis. Our award winning flexible working policy is a testament to our commitment to team wellbeing.

While Zoocha make every effort to ensure that the team are comfortable and content in the workplace, this has also impacted the ways in which the business continues to thrive. Zoocha are proud to say that year by year, as our team grows, we are also consistently growing in revenue, with a profit share scheme ensuring that this is distributed with the team responsible for our success.
