We couldn’t be prouder of our CODE team and everyone who has taken part in our programme, for being shortlisted for Coding Initiative of the Year at the UK Dev Awards.

CODE is an innovative initiative, providing a flexible and free training programme aimed at creating opportunities in digital employment and addressing the skills shortage within the tech sector.

With CODE Lancashire and CODE Cumbria, our aim is to bridge the skills gap in the local tech industry and empower individuals, particularly women and those of minority genders, who often encounter barriers to entry into the tech job market.

Our journey so far has seen some remarkable achievements. Since August 2022, we have delivered six cohorts to over 100 Lancashire residents, providing digital skills and employability training, and delivering employment opportunities, through strategic collaborations with local businesses, trainers, coaches, and mentors.

In its first 15 months, CODE Lancashire facilitated the employment of 45 candidates in the tech sector, with 45% of those being women and individuals of minority genders.

Built on this success, we launched CODE Cumbria in September 2023, extending our impact to 22 local residents. Praised by our partners as an exemplary model for Skills Bootcamps, CODE Cumbria has garnered recognition for its meticulously planned and executed approach.

Within the last 15 months, we have also grown our CODE team significantly. This includes three CODE graduates who bring heaps of energy, new skills, and diversity to our expanding team.

Our nomination for Coding Initiative of the Year reflects more than just our teaching of digital skills through the CODE programme; it signifies a holistic approach to empowering our participants and creating opportunities.

Paul Aisthorpe, CODE Managing Director, said: “We are beyond proud to have been shortlisted for Coding Initiative of the Year at the UK Dev Awards. This is amazing recognition for the CODE team and a testament to both their hard work and dedication and to the CODE’s innovative and comprehensive approach to technical and employability training. We really have created a vibrant community of digital talent, transforming our candidates into skilled contributors to the thriving tech scene here in Lancashire and beyond.”
